24 Peaks Challenge

One of our toughest events - best time 17hr 25m!

The Lake District 24 Peaks Challenge is a two day challenge over a walking distance of 51km which will push your mental and physical strength to the limit. The 24 Peaks is designed to involve fairly strenuous exercise and for your own safety you must be aware of this and consider carefully whether your general level of fitness, or any particular illness or ailment prevents you from participation.

This is a tough challenge that will test your endurance and strength and requires a high level of stamina to compete with limited recovery time over a two day period. Set in the stunningly beautiful Lake District you will climb 24 peaks within 24 hours, encountering difficult terrain, lengthy descents and steep ascents along the way. This event should not be underestimated and is ideally suited to individuals with prior experience of long distance mountain walks. Why not challenge yourself and a team of colleagues with this exciting 24 Peaks event which provides an excellent platform for both team building and/or charity fundraising.

We recommend that in the lead-up to this challenge, participants work on building up their stamina with weekly cardio-vascular exercise of a minimum of 1 hour per day, 5 days per week to build up their calf + quad muscles. It would also be beneficial to do at least one training walk if possible on broken rough terrain walking for at least 8 hours. From an average fitness start point it is likely you will need to commit to a 3-4 month fitness training programme to maximise your chance of success. We can help you prepare for this event – for  information about our  pre-selection / training day click here.
