Scrambling Taster Day

A guided day designed for walkers wanting to get off the beaten track

What’s Scrambling?

Scrambling as an activity sits between mountain walking and rock climbing. It involves ascending up rocky terrain which requires the use of hands as well as feet. This can range from terrain involving simple short rocky steps requiring nothing more than your normal walking gear, to using harnesses ropes and a selection of climbing equipment at its extreme. The beauty of scrambling is that it opens up a huge range of new and exciting ways to travel through the mountains on the way to summit tops, away from the busy main footpaths. It is also highly diverse, enabling scrambling as an activity to be taken to whatever level those involved wish to. This taster day is not intended to teach but to give a fun and safe experience as to what its all about. Although some basic instruction may be involved as required to achieve this outcome through the day.

The routes used will involve simple scrambling that anyone with some hill walking experience, a head for heights, and owns a pair of walking boots can achieve. The aim would be to gain the summit of a mountain or fell as part of the day.
